Technical VP Kevin Dunn Provides Witness Testimony for US House of Representatives Small Business Committee
This week I had the privilege of being invited to provide a witness testimony for the United States House of Representatives Small Business Committee. For this Congressional committee hearing, the subject was "Small Business and the Federal Government: How Cyber-Attacks Threaten Both."
This is a challenging and fascinating space, and I was very pleased to be invited to provide my input. My testimony, and subsequent answers to questions posed by Committee members, revolved around the nature of cyber-attacks, the technical and social aspects of defending against attacks, and the security impact of the relationship between small businesses and the government.
In addition to myself, the panel of witnesses included Mr. Richard Snow, a small business owner that had fallen victim to a phishing scam and cost his business approximately $15,000; Mr. Nicholas Oldham, legal counsel from the Washington DC based law firm King & Spalding; and Mr. Stephen Mankowski, a representative from the National Conference of CPA Practitioners.
It was an honor to represent NCC Group in front of Congress, and I look forward to continued efforts to help small businesses in an increasingly hostile cybersecurity landscape!
